Anarchive
Last updated: Saturday, 7 December 2024
FoAM’s Anarchive is an experimental publishing project recontextualising their 20+ years of transdisciplinary work across art, science, nature, and everyday life. This ongoing process combines archival materials with new commissions through a series of themed fascicles, taking an alternative approach to archives, publishing, and knowledge transmission in complex, turbulent times.
“Anarchiving”
An experimental practice that approaches archives as living systems, emphasising the activation and recontextualisation of collective knowledge. Moving beyond static preservation, anarchiving takes a fluid, context-sensitive approach to organising shared memories and experiences. Supporting non-linear exploration and emergent connections, it prioritises the generative potential of materials over their fixed historical value, encouraging creative engagement with the past to inform present understanding and future possibilities.
